FBI Agents Conduct Raids All Over Fort Wayne
FORT WAYNE — FBI agents and local police raided five properties Tuesday morning, Aug. 9, in a wide-spread take-down of an alleged drug distribution outfit.
Federal agents, Fort Wayne police, Allen County deputies and SWAT officers raided properties at 205 E. Wallace St. at the American Quality Body and Paint shop; a home at 2808 Taylor St; a home at 13814 Piedmont Cove; a home at 8711 Voyager Drive; and at a large home at 2526 Baywood Trail in the Autumn Ridge neighborhood.
Another home at along Genesee Avenue at Sand Point Road was also raided early Tuesday but authorities said it was not related to this investigation.
The investigation involves the alleged distribution of cocaine, heroin and marijuana, according to an indictment handed down by a federal grand jury. The indictment, issued by the United States District Court in Fort Wayne, names Juan M. Gonzalez and Frederick Moore as knowingly and intentionally with others to distribute the drugs from the home located at 2526 Baywood Trail.
That home belonged to Moore, according to public property records.
Ryan Holmes, the law enforcement coordinator of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Northern District of Indiana, confirmed several federal search warrants were served in Fort Wayne. He would not say how many warrants were served or what the investigations entailed.
Holmes said a press conference was scheduled for Wednesday. Authorities said mid-afternoon Tuesday they planned to discuss the indictments of 18 people related to a drug distribution conspiracy.
