New Natural Gas Line Installation Tuesday, May Cause ‘Rotten Egg’ Odor
MILFORD — A new 6-inch natural gas line, to be installed at TruHorizons, Milford, may result in a rotten egg odor in the area. The work is expected to take place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9.
Turkey Creek Fire Territory Fire Chief Mickey Scott announced he has been notified by NIPSCO authorities of the work and the “burping of the new line.” This action may result in the rotten egg odor associated with a gas leak. The area where it could be smelled will depend upon wind conditions.
Scott stated any resident who experiences the odor and is unsure if there is a gas leak, or the result of the new line, should contact the local fire department. “We will respond,” he said.
