Bonnie Alice Warner
Bonnie Alice Warner, 88, rural Columbia City, passed from this life in comfort and peace at 6:01 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, with her family by her side.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1927, in the home of the late Clarence Earl Sailor and Ethel Marie (Harshman) Sailor in Churubusco. Her formative years were spent in the South Whitley area. She completed her education at South Whitley High School.
On Nov. 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Jimmie George Warner. They have always made their home in Columbia City. Mr. Warner died Nov. 8, 2015.
She worked at Marshall Middle School as “Head” Cook in Columbia City for ten years. After retiring in 1975, Bonnie and Jim enjoyed the golden years by spending their winter months in Texas, traveling during the summer months to Alaska, Canada, and Nova Scotia. They enjoyed camping, square dancing and spending time with family and friends.
Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love for cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and “creative” crafts was only surpassed by the love she had for her family. She left this life in a peaceful transition and her memory will live on as she will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
Surviving are her three children: JoAnn Branning, Columbia City; Debra (Thom) Frantz, Terre Haute; and Dennis (Lori) Warner, Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren: Angela (Bill) Kendall, Columbia City; Amy (Ben) Shelton, Fort Wayne; Heidi Branning, Columbia City; Jessica (Zach) Matuska, Fort Wayne; Amanda (Jarrod) Enyeart, Huntington; Adam Frantz, Terre Haute; Mark Frantz, Wabash; and Brian Warner, New Haven; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother: Donald Sailor; and sister: Treva Myers.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in the South Whitley Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at the funeral home.
