Derek W. “Rick” Cochran, 54, Warsaw, passed away at 10:46 am Sunday, July 31, 2016 in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.
On July 8, 1962, he was born in Muncie, to Buck and Geraldine (Wallace) Cochran. He was united in marriage to Marcie Long in 1990 in Warsaw, who survives.
Derek was raised in Albany before moving to Warsaw in 1988. He worked for Explorer Van, Warsaw for twenty seven years, retiring in 2014. Derek loved spending time with his family, especially his daughters. He enjoyed taking care of his property, playing guitar, canoeing, hiking and photography. He also loved the outdoors and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Marcie Cochran, Warsaw; two daughters, Amber Cochran and Andrea Cochran, both of Warsaw; his mother, Geraldine (and spouse Rex) Taylor, Muncie; his brother, Drew (and spouse Tammy) Cochran, Warsaw; his sister, April Cochran, Fort Wayne and his step sister, Kristin (and spouse Adam) Schmiedeknecht, Cranston, Rhode Island. Derek is also survived by several nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Friday, August 5, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Chaplain Kris McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Etna Green Cemetery, Etna Green.
Visitation hours will be from 4–8 p.m. Thursday, August 4 in the funeral chapel.
