James Everett Goshert
James was born on Feb. 28, 1921 to Everett and Alice (Carles) Goshert near Atwood. He graduated in 1939 from Atwood High School, and from Manchester College in 1943. James served his country for three years during WWII in the Army Air Force. On March 17, 1946 , he married Iola Tucker in Mentone and they were able to celebrate 70 years together. They farmed near Atwood for five years, and then moved to a farm near Mentone. While living in Atwood, James was the superintendent of the E.U.B. Church in which his mother had taught Sunday School for many years. James had served as Vice-President of the Kosciusko Farm Bureau, Inc. and had belonged to Good Sams Camping Group. He enjoyed reading his Bible and going to the Lord in prayer. His family was his heartbeat.
He is survived by his wife: Iola Goshert, Mentone; his daughters: Janet Goshert, Fort Wayne; Faith Goshert, Mentone; his sons: Kerry and wife Kimber Goshert, Mentone; Jerry and wife Reba Goshert, New Paris; granddaughters: Brooklyn, Carissa, and Danae Goshert, New Paris.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Everett and Alice (Carles) Goshert; a daughter: Kay Arlene; and a son: Lyle Lee.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 3 at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker Street, Mentone. Reverend Glen Mitchell will officiate. James Everett Goshert will be buried in Mentone Cemetery with graveside military rites performed by the Warsaw American Legion and VFW. Visitation hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 at King memorial home.
