Rex Roy Spencer
Rex Roy Spencer, 61, of rural Columbia City, died at 12:45 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical, Fort Wayne, where he was admitted Monday. He had been battling cancer.
He was born August 2, 1954, in Marion, a son of the late Emmett and Florence L. (Wright) Spencer. He graduated from Mississinewa High School in Gas City.
On October 12, 1996, he was united in marriage to Dawn R. Warnick. They made their home in Fort Wayne then moving to Columbia City living at their present home for the past 17 years.
An auto body mechanic, he has worked for various body shops in the area. He and his wife had owned and operated Spencer Lamp, a wholesale lighting distributor.
He loved anything automotive and spent his spare time restoring old cars. He also enjoyed fishing and tending his vegetable garden.
He leaves behind his wife: Dawn; his four children: eremey L. Spencer; Scott (Mandy) Spencer, Bridget E. Spencer, all of Marion, and Amy M. Spencer of Columbia City; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother: Ronald Spencer; three infant brothers; and a sister: Patricia Hosier.
A celebration of life will be held at Country Community Church, 1647 E 600S, Jonesboro, from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, and at the First Church of God, Columbia City from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 3.
