KOSCIUSKO — The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, coordinating with the Indiana State Police, have released the name of the sheriff’s deputy that was involved in the shooting incident on Wednesday, July 27, in the town of North Webster.
Deputy Sheriff Don McCune, assigned to the road patrol division, has been an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department since May, 1995. Deputy McCune had previously been a road officer, as well as a jailer, with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputy Sheriff McCune was placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation, per departmental procedure.
Sheriff C. Aaron Rovenstine stated yesterday that assignment of administrative leave does not construe punishment, nor should be interpreted to imply or indicate that the officer has acted improperly.
