Class Teaches Adults, Teens Self-Defense
WARSAW — Todd Miller, certified master instructor of the award-winning FAST Defense empowerment program and president of FAST Defense Global, is the featured presenter for a personal safety and adrenal stress training program for adults and teens ages 13 and older, set for 1-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Parkview YMCA, Warsaw.
Miller, from Martinsville, will make a special teaching appearance in Warsaw to teach this class, along with local certified FAST Defense instructor, Steve Zorn of Personal Safety Unlimited and FAST Defense instructor Zach Hayden of ATA Excellence Martial Arts, Kendallville. Participants will learn how to harness adrenaline and combine it with simple self-protection skills.
The class will cover the following topics:
- A full review of the ABCs of self-defense from level one
- Dynamic verbal attack to physical defense
- Defense against rear grabs and bear hugs
- Rear take-down scenarios
“This class is not about learning complicated martial arts techniques” Zorn said. “It’s about teaching adults and teens very simple skills that can be successfully used to escape a variety of violent attacks.”
Miller is a full time instructor of both FAST Defense and the Martial Arts. He works for Indiana University in the Department of Kinesiology teaching various courses and is a Martial Arts school owner in Martinsville. He has more than 18 years of experience teaching martial arts and self-defense, and has taught adrenal stress scenarios to students ranging from children, teens, moms, and dads to martial arts experts and corporate professionals.
