SYRACUSE — Professor Steve returns to the Syracuse Library to give Hoosiers a bit of history, and science at 2 p.m Tuesday, Aug. 2. Professor Steve will present his science of basketball show. The last time he was in Syracuse, he demonstrated some cool things that happen with electricity. Professor Steve’s demonstration is fun and education. He will be sharing some principles of air-pressure, combustion, energy and biology.
Monday evening finishes the travel adventure presentations of the summer with the trips of Dr. Jack and Carol Clark. At 6:30 p.m, Monday, Aug. 1 the Clarks are showing a film of their whale sightings on trips to the Arctic, Antarctic and Baha, California. Dr. Clark retired from his Syracuse medical practice and has spent the intervening years traveling and adventuring around the world.
The selection of the adult book club, One Book, One Hour, has been announced. The group will be discussing a memoir by super-achiever, Michael J. Collins. Collins has added author to his activities besides a full-time career as an orthopedic surgeon, member in The Narrowbacks Irish band, weekly hockey player and father of 12 children. “Hot Lights, Cold Steel” is his recollection of his four year residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. The discussion is the second Wednesday of the month and comes early this August.
