Local Organizations Provide School Supplies For Children In Community
WARSAW — Numerous organizations in the area are working together to help kids in the community in need of schools supplies for the upcoming school year.
Combined Community Services will hold its annual Tools for School from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 3 at the fairgrounds. Parents can pick up school supplies for their children. CCS will be offering a variety of different Fiesta will be there to give kids free hair cuts.
Last year, CCS was able to help around 1,400 kids in the community and the Tools for School drive. They were also able to around 200 additional families in the following weeks after the drive.
CCS is requesting individuals in the community to donate items for the Tools for School event. Basic school supplies are needed as well as monetary donations.Those interested in helping with Tools for School can drop off school supplies or monetary donations at CCS until Tuesday, Aug. 2.
The Kosciusko Community YMCA, at the Warsaw location from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the North Webster location from 7 a.m. to noon, will be offering free admission on Aug. 6 to individuals who donate one school supply. The YMCA is asking for new notebooks, backpacks, markers, crayons, glue, pens and pencils. Items donated will be given to CCS for them to give to needy kids in the community.
Palestine Bible Church will host a school supply fish fry from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30. Families can come to enjoy a free meal of fish and pick up free schools supplies for kids of all ages for the school year. Palestine Bible Church is at 3226 S. CR 550 W., halfway between Mentone and Warsaw on SR 25 in Palestine.
