Area Paddlers Keep The Rivers Clean
WARSAW — The Paddlers 4 Conservation Kayak and Canoe Club is not afraid of a little hard work and they proved it today, Saturday, July 23, as they performed maintenance on a section of the Tippecanoe River that flows near Warsaw.
Hitting the water at approximately 8:30 a.m., the group worked through much of the day, clearing giant logs, tangled branches and litter from the river. Though the day was hot, volunteers managed to keep cool, as most spots along the stretch of river were shallow enough to stand in.
This is the second cleanup P4C has held this year and they hope to organize one more this fall. The date is to be determined, however volunteers with a love of paddling and conservation are always welcome.
P4C started as a group of paddling enthusiasts with an interest in “floating,” or taking canoe and kayak trips, down the local stretch of the Tippecanoe River. In May, 2015, they cleared several miles of waterway, spending about 250 hours removing log jams and clearing truckloads of trash.
P4C has since become a nonprofit organization. To learn more about P4C, click here.
