Robert Lee Ostrander, 87, Fort Wayne, passed away at 9:09 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Robert was born on June 10, 1929, in Ligonier, a son of Lymon Earl and Minnie (Merriman) Ostrander.
He served his country in the Unites States Army, in Germany and Korea.
On Nov. 9, 1952, he was married in Ligonier to Marlene Stanley, and moved from Ligonier to their current home in 1960.
He was employed at GE, and retired after 25 years. Robert was a member of Ligonier American Legion Post #243.
The surviving relatives include wife: Marlene Ostrander, Fort Wayne; four daughters: Gwen (Becky Shedd) Ostrander, Laotto; Lori (Eric) McBride; Sherri (Mike) Stanford, both of Fort Wayne; and Amy (Joe) Meeks, Churubusco; along with 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son: Brent Ostrander; two brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Sheets and Childs Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the Sheets and Childs Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 25, or one hour prior to the service. A Rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, July 25.
Burial will be in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.
