Whitko Announces Coaching Changes
SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko High School athletic director Josh Mohr announced three new coaching hires Friday evening for football, volleyball and boys basketball.
Jeff Sprunger was named the new head football coach after serving as an assistant for the Wildcats and Mohr last season. Sprunger has also spent time as an assistant at Tippecanoe Valley and was a student manager for the Indiana football team during his time at Indiana University.
Former Warsaw volleyball head coach Mike Howard was named to the same position for Whitko. Howard joins the Wildcats after stepping down as Warsaw’s head coach in November. During his eight seasons with the Tigers, Howard guided the Orange and Black to a record of 206-58, won the 2014 Northern Lakes Conference title and was twice named the NLC Coach of the Year.
Eli Henson was officially announced as Whitko’s new basketball coach, though the move was made several weeks ago. Henson comes to Whitko after spending the past five seasons as the head coach for North White where he went 63-56 and won a sectional championship in 2014.
