Joyce L. Katschke, Rochester passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016, exactly 74 years after her birth, at Life Care Center of Rochester.
Born in East Chicago July 14, 1943, Joyce Lee Blade was a cherished daughter of David and Madelyn Beech Blade. Growing up she shared her childhood with a sister Judy and brother David.
On April 30, 2011, Joyce married William “Bill” Katschke.
Dedicated to helping others, Joyce worked as a certified nursing assistant at Rochester’s Woodlawn Hospital and Life Care Center. To relax she enjoyed playing euchre, yahtzee, Monopoly and bingo.
Paramount in Grandma Joyce’s life was her family. She enjoyed holiday gatherings, birthdays and special family celebrations. She looked forward to visits from her grandchildren and the great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish Joyce’s memory are her husband Bill at home; two daughters: Debbie Border and husband David of Rochester; Katie Fenstermacher-Wetmore and wife Annie Wetmore of Sunrise, Fla.; two sons: Darrin Fenstermacher and companion Sandy White-DuBois; Raymond Fenstermacher, all of Rochester; a sister: Judy Welch and husband Donald, Merrillville; a brother: David Blade Jr., Hammond; four grandchildren: Jason Paxton and fiancée Christina Watson, Susann Border and companion Seth Field, Ashley Shuck and husband Christopher, Chantel Ford and husband Steven; several great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Joyce in death are her parents, an infant daughter, grandchildren: Jerry Paxton, Cody Border, infant grandson Steven Ford III, and sister-in-law Charlotte Blade.
A celebration of the life of Joyce Lee Katschke will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, July 18. Friends may visit with her family from 2-5 p.m. Monday. Chaplain Teri White will officiate.
