Family Summer Story Time: Be A Good Sport
Join us this week Friday, July 15, for Family Summer Story Time at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. Bring the whole family to listen to guest storyteller Janna Stollery as she reads stories about sportsmanship with her theme “Be a Good Sport.” Listen to her read Tessa Tiger’s Temper Tantrum by Barbara DeRubertis and other great stories. After Janna finishes reading, you will make a craft and enjoy a snack. Your family can still earn three free books just by attending each of the family summer story times left in July. Families may sign up at the Children’s circulation desk. See you on Friday, July 15 at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. for stories about good sportsmanship.
Summer Reading Program
This year’s reading themes are: “Get in the Game, READ!” for teens (going into sixth grade through graduating seniors) and “On Your Mark, Get Set…READ!” for children (preschool through fifth grade). Come in and sign up. Learn about our events by asking for a summer reading brochure at either circulation desk. The brochure is filled with all the information you need to make plans for a fun and exciting summer. Earn prizes and have fun with your friends while reading books. We love to promote reading and encourage everyone to attend the special events we have planned this year. With such an active, exhilarating program planned, you will definitely have fun this summer. We hope to see you at the library for just a few more weeks of Summer Reading Fun. Last day to turn in hours for prizes is July 30.
Cake Pans Ready to be Checked Out
Need to make a special cake for someone but don’t have the cake pan you need? Come in and check out our collection of cake pans in the adult department. We have cake pans for birthdays, holidays, graduations, and more. Come on in and have a look at our collection.
Story Walk: Pigs in the Pond by Martin Waddell
Beginning Tuesday, July 12, everyone is invited to participate in our Story Walk. Since our summer reading themes are all about exercise and being healthy, we decided having a Story Walk would be an excellent activity to offer Milford families this summer.
The Story Walk consists of yard signs with book pages on them placed beside the sidewalk around the library block. People should start reading and walking the Story Walk on the corner of Main Street and Catherine. On each side of the yard sign, you will find a page from the book you are reading as you walk around the block. All the pages of the book are numbered to keep things easy.
After you complete the Story Walk and if you are participating in the Summer Reading Program, come in to the library to get an hour’s credit of reading time on your sheet. You only get one hour credit, even if you and your family take the Story Walk five times.
The story this month is Pigs in the Pond by Martin Waddell, which will be available until August 5. We hope every family in Milford takes time this summer to enjoy the Story Walk. Thank you to all our block neighbors who allowed the library to place signs in their yards.
