Ortiz And Two Others Arrested After Traffic Stop
WARSAW — Three local men arrested on drug charges.
As of Thursday, July 7, Arnol Dionisio Ortiz, 19, 6241 Saint Joe Road, Apt. 103, Fort Wayne, has been officially charged with a level 6 felony of possession of methamphetamine; a class B misdemeanor of marijuana possession and a class C misdemeanor of possession of paraphernalia.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, on June 9, a Syracuse Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a taillight out. The officer reported that after the vehicle came to a stop the driver, who was later identified as Pedro Marcos Castro Jr., 19, 304 N. James St., Milford, switched places with Ortiz. A records check indicated Castro had a suspended driver’s license.
Another officer arrived with his K-9 partner and conducted an exterior air sniff of the vehicle. The dog alerted officers to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.
A search was conducted on the vehicle and officers located a drawstring bag in the back seat area. The bag contained a glass smoking device with burnt residue, small plastic bags with a white powdery residue that field-tested positive for meth, a set of scales with meth residue, a plastic straw and a small bag containing a green, leafy material that smelled like marijuana.
Ortiz, Castro and third passenger, Daven Paul Gasaway, 19, 5774 N. 2nd St., Warsaw, were all taken to the Kosciusko County Jail and each held on a bond of $10, 250 surety and cash.
