Charles Wayne Gibson
Charles Wayne Gibson, Warsaw, went home to be with the Lord at 8:40 p.m. Friday July 1,2016, at KCH. He fought a long and hard battle against leukemia; he fought this battle with courage, pride, honor, and lots of love and support.
Charlie was born on June 11,1951 in Prestonburg, Ky. to Richard and Aggie (Poe) Gibson.
He honorably served his country in United States Marine Corps from 1969 to 1972 being discharged as a Corporal (E-4) He then enlisted in the Indiana National Guard in 1981 and held the rank of Sergeant First Class at the time of his retirement in 1997.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 31 years, Renee (Laurino) Gibson; children: Kevin and Carlie Gibson and beloved granddaughter Adalyn “Gracie” Gibson all of Warsaw. He is also survived by his sisters: Becky (Gary) Krotke of Laketon; Joyce (Carl) Arnett of Pierceton; and Dottie (Bill) Teeter of North Manchester; mother-in-law Mary Lou Laurino; and father-in-law Sammie Vickers both of Warsaw; and best friends Alan and Deb Johnson of Warsaw. In addition, Charles was survived by eigh brother and sister-in-laws and several nieces and nephews. He was a mentor, father figure, and teacher to many others.
His parents, four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Visitation hours are scheduled from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 8, at 11 a.m. with visitation one-hour prior. Pastor Donald R. Gibson will officiate the services. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with Military Rites rendered by the Warsaw American Legion Post #49, V.F.W. Post #1126 and the Marine Corps Funeral Honor Guard.
