SYRACUSE — Upcoming events and programs for Syracuse Public Library.
Rock Concert Starts the Weekend Celebrations
Stars of the air guitar are playing a concert for friends, family and rockers at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2. The performance has tunes of the Beatles and other hits by Journey, Survivor and Star Ship. Children have been practicing to put on a show in the air-conditioned theater at the Syracuse Library. Admission is free.
The week of June 27 offers a full schedule of activities. Follow the calendar of events for times. Tuesday’s offering is to plant and garden at 2 p.m. and Thursday is crafts day. This week there are two movies. Besides the Friday children’s show there is a new DVD release of a dystopian film showing during the teen time on Wednesday. All ages are invited to the showing of a PG13 movie with popcorn at 2 p.m. June 29.

The Syracuse Library web page has links to several databases with reliable information about the United States and countries of the world. Global Road Warrior has pages of facts for all the countries in the world for up-to-date research and cultural information. A to Z the USA has facts along with pronunciation help and front page topic headings.

All one needs to get started is a keyboard and mouse, speakers and library card. So, prepare for Talk Like a Pirate Day and start your Mango lesson to learn Pirate before September.
The Inspire link connects to documents for research and reliable information, along with test preparation and is provided by the Indiana State Library. Digital print books be checked out from Overdrive, and e-picture books and now available on a database called Tumble Books.
