Jim Eric Myers
Jim Eric Myers, 71, St. George, Utah, formerly of Goshen, died 4:10 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He will be remembered for his love of God, family, friends and sports. He was born Dec. 6, 1944, in Goshen to Kenneth LeRoy and Carrie Belle (Bollinger) Myers. He married Patricia Anne (Harris) Myers on April 9, 1966.
Surviving are his wife: Patricia, St. George, Utah; son: Ron (Katy) Myers, Alpine, Utah; son: Craig (Beth) Myers, Houston, Texas; grandchildren: Allison Myers; and Brienna Myers, both of Alpine, Utah; Collin Myers; Aaron Myers; Claire Myers; Preston Myers; and William Myers, all of Houston, Texas; brothers: David Myers, North Fort Myers, Fla.; Kary “Bud” Myers, Centennial, Colo.; Kirby Myers, New Paris; and sisters: Alice Williams, Callahan, Fla.; and Judy Dintaman, Howe. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim was an officer with the United States Park Police in Washington D.C. for 24 years. He was an avid basketball fan and coached girls’ high school basketball teams for many years, as well as 9th grade boys’ basketball. He had a larger-than-life personality and enjoyed making people laugh. He always tried to help those who were less fortunate. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elkhart. Burial will follow at New Paris Cemetery.
