Alice L. Luyben
Alice L. Luyben, 86, Syracuse, passed away on June 21, 2016, at Millers Merry Manor of Syracuse.
She was born March 3, 1930 in Chicago to Chester and Angeline (Stacneck) Gut. On Nov. 3, 1951 she married A.A “Gus” Luyben who preceded her in 2006. She moved to Syracuse from Fort Wayne in 1969. She earned her Bachelors from Ball State University in 1950, and her Masters from Indiana University in 1962. She taught Home Economics in the Northwest Fort Wayne Schools for 38 years. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, as well as the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by her daughter: Mrs. Darrell (Rebecca) Campbell, Syracuse. Two grandchildren: Mrs. Brandon (Abby) Moe, Syracuse; and Brett (Jaclyn Conley) Campbell, Milford. Two great grandchildren: Micah and Molly Moe. One sister: Denise Sabo. Three brothers: Chester Gut, David Gut, and Ronald Gut.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Eastlund Funeral Home. Services will be Friday, June 24 at 11 a.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse with Pastor David Henry officiating. Burial will follow at the Syracuse cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church.
