Helen E. Cozad
Helen Cozad, 92, Greenwood, formerly of Columbia City, passed away at 8:34 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2016, at her home. Born July 23, 1923, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Bert and Mary (Robbins) Walker.
She graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1941. After meeting the man of her dreams at the skating rink in Columbia City, she married Kenneth Cozad on June 25, 1943, by Rev. Marion Shroyer. Helen went on to work at GE during the end of WWII and at Farmer’s Loan and Trust for over 29 years. She was a member of the American Legion and Eagles and was an avid bowler who also enjoyed golf and traveling with her husband.
Survivors include her husband: Kenneth Cozad, Greenwood; daughters: Sandra “Sam” (Richard “Dick”) Cullers, Greenwood; Shirley Robbins; and Shari Bechtold, both of Columbia City; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a 23-year-old cat: Casey. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Florence Argerbright; brothers: Paul Walker; and Robert Walker; and son-in-law: Vernon Robbins.
Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, Columbia City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, at the funeral home with Certified Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus officiating. Burial will follow at South Park (Annex) Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Cozad’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association.
