Tiffany Hertel Named 2016 Miss Kosciusko County Fair Queen
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — On Saturday, June 18, the Kosciusko County Community Fair held its annual Miss Kosciusko County Fair Queen and Miss Teen Kosciusko County Fair Queen Pageant. Four different Kosciusko County women competed for the titles.
The queens were selected based how they scored through the different activities of the evening. Before the pageant, each contestant went through an interview which accounted for 50 percent of the scoring. An onstage question was worth 25 percent, interview wear was worth 15 percent and theme wear was worth 10 percent of the overall score.
There was only one contestant competing for the 2016 Miss Teen Kosciusko County Community Fair Queen. Shaylee Ryman was crowned as the teen queen during the pageant. Ryman is a freshman at Tippecanoe Valley High School and shows horses, beef cattle and swine during the fair.
Three contestants competed for the main title of the evening. Ashley Larson, Wawasee High School graduate, Tiffany Hertel, Warsaw High School graduate and Katelin Ksiezopolski, Warsaw High School junior gave the judges a difficult choice for this year’s queen.
In the end, Tiffany Hertel was crowned as 2016 Miss Kosciusko County Community Fair Queen.
Both Ryman and Hertel will be busy during fair week. The duties of a fair queen include participating in the parade, being a positive role model and representative of Kosciusko County, participating in fair activities and passing down the crown during the following year. Hertel will also have the chance to compete in the Indiana State Fair Pageant while representing Kosciusko County.
This year will mark the 100th Kosciusko County Community Fair. The fair will run from July 10 – 16.
