Hot Rods Bowl Over TinCaps
FORT WAYNE – The Bowling Green Hot Rods followed a similar script and jolted out of the gates with more early offense in a 13-0 thumping of the TinCaps on Sunday afternoon at Parkview Field.
The Hot Rods (37-32) plated four runs in the first, four more in the second, one in the third, one in the fourth, two in the seventh and one in the ninth to complete the four-game weekend sweep of the TinCaps (36-34).
Bowling Green scored multiple first-inning runs in each of the four games.
TinCaps starter Austin Smith (L, 1-5) allowed eight runs on six hits and four walks in 1.1 innings.
Bowling Green righty Roel Ramirez (W, 3-5) tossed six shutout innings, only surrendered three hits and piled up eight strikeouts. The TinCaps tallied just those three hits, which all came in the third inning.
Four TinCaps – center fielder Michael Gettys, catcher Austin Allen and right-handed pitchers J.C. Cosme and Jake Nix – will represent the Eastern Division in Tuesday’s Midwest League All-Star Classic at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium at 8:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Radio 1380, 100.9 FM and TinCapsRadio.com.
Next game for the TinCaps is Thursday, June 23 at Bowling Green, a 7:35 p.m. start.
