Irish WR Robinson Ends Career
SOUTH BEND — Notre Dame wide receiver Corey Robinson announced today that he has decided to walk away from football because of the lingering effects of concussions.
Robinson, son of NBA Hall of Famer David Robinson, released a statement saying he won’t play anymore because he has sustained multiple concussions. He said he will continue to work with the team as a student assistant and is looking “forward to a great senior year.”
The 6-foot-5, 215-pound receiver from San Antonio would have been Notre Dame’s most experienced returning receiver, with 65 catches for 896 yards and seven touchdowns. The Irish lost four of their top five receivers from last season, with Torii Hunter Jr. the only returner with more catches than Robinson.
