South Bend Trips Up Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, KY. – Eloy Jimenez had a double and two RBIs as the South Bend Cubs outlasted Bowling Green, 6-4, Friday night in the Commonwealth.
Jimenez’s double in the fifth scored Donnie Dewees and Carlos Sepulveda, which gave the Cubs a 4-0 cushion.
Dewees, Tyler Alamo and Jesse Hodges also drove in runs for the Cubs, which move to 37-23 on the year.
Preston Morrison worked 5.1 innings Friday night for the win, giving up three runs on five hits, two walks and he struck out two. Morrison picked up his fifth win of the season James Norwood earned his fifth save.
Michael Russell and Joe McCarthy each drove in a pair for the Hot Rods, which are 29-31 this season.
The two teams renew acquaintances Saturday in a 7:35 p.m. start.
