Mary Angeline Hall
Mary Angeline Hall, 73, South Whitley, passed away peacefully at her home at 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016. She had been in declining health.
She was born Aug. 25, 1942, in Columbia City, a daughter of the late John Robert and Caroline Edith (Oliver) Mantle. She spent her formative years in Sidney and graduated from Sidney High School in 1960. She then completed a nursing degree at St. Joseph School of Nursing, Fort Wayne.
On March 30, 1966, she entered the U.S. Army. She became a Captain serving as a pediatric nurse. She was honorably discharged Oct. 9, 1969.
Continuing her nursing career, she worked for various nursing homes while living in Anderson, Wolf Lake and Sidney. In 1976, she began her employment with the VA Hospital, Fort Wayne. She retired in 2001 with 25 years of service. For the past 21 years, she lived at her home in South Whitley.
She was a member of the South Whitley Church of God. After her retirement, she loved spending her time with her grandchildren.
Surviving include her son: James F. Hall, Jr., Huntington; her daughter: Annette (Ed) Ruckman, South Whitley; grandchildren: Daryanne Hall; James Hall, III; Andrew Hall; Alex Hall; Zekiel Hall; Brett Ruckman; Bailey Ruckman; and Korben Ruckman; a sister: Donna M. Mantle, Peoria, Ariz.; and two brothers: John R. Mantle, Bloomingdale; and James M. (Kathy) Mantle, Monticello, Ky.
A memorial gathering will take place from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at the South Whitley Church of God, South Whitley.
