UPDATE: Accident At Buffalo And Prairie Street
WARSAW — A Warsaw resident was taken to Warsaw Parkview Hospital after an accident on Tuesday, June 7, involving four cars. Crews responded at approximately 1:31 p.m. to the accident at the corner of Buffalo and Prairie Street.
According to police reports Velma J. Craft, 51, South Lake Street, Warsaw, was driving her blue 2003 Saturn east on West Prairie Street when she approached the intersection at South Buffalo Street. The traffic signal changed to red for eastbound traffic and Craft’s vehicle entered the intersection and struck the north bound maroon 1996 GMC driven by Kody D. Popenfoose, 22, East Market Street, Warsaw.
The impact pushed Popenfoose’s vehicle into a gray 1999 Toyota owned by Kalpana Bobba, 40, Kuder Lane, Warsaw. Bobba’s vehicle was then pushed into a white 2013 Ford driven by Sheila J. Wilson, 63, South Bufalo Street, Warsaw.
Craft told officers that when she had looked away to check on one of her children in the back the light had been green, but that she thought the light might have changed before she turned her head back around. Craft complained of pain in her chest and lower back and was transported by EMS to Warsaw Parkview Hospital.
Statements made by all the drivers indicated that Craft had disregarded the red traffic signal.
