Phyllis M. Jernstrom-UPDATED
Phyllis M. Jernstrom, 86, Plymouth, passed away at 8:03 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2016, in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center-Plymouth campus.
Phyllis was born on Feb. 27, 1930, in Argos, to Thurman and Sarah Elnora (Brandt) Ward. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School class of 1948. Phyllis worked for the Holiday Inn in Plymouth and was a past manager and member of the American Legion Post 27, she was also a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She also worked for Pathfinders for 20 years. Phyllis attended the 1st United Church of Christ in Plymouth.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter: Deborah Paloma, Mission, Texas; her three sons: Ward A. Jernstrom, Plymouth; Michael (Mary) Jernstrom, Bremen; and Robert Jernstrom, LaPorte; two sisters: Donnabelle Bennett, Ark.; and Norma Beatty, Plymouth; ten grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Phyllis is preceded in passing by her parents; and four sisters: Wanda; Thelma; Avon; and Florence; and her brother: Thurman.
The Van Gilder Funeral Home is honored to care for the Jernstrom family. A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth, with Mike Beam officiating.
A time of visiting with the Jernstrom family will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at the Van Gilder Funeral Home.
The Jernstrom family requests memorial contributions to be given to Riley Children’s Hospital, Indianapolis.
