Evelyn Platt
Evelyn Platt, 92, Columbia City, passed on at 8:07 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Kingston Care Center, Fort Wayne. Born on Aug. 19, 1923, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of William and Anna (Berning) Hegerfeld.
Evelyn attended South Side High School in Fort Wayne. On May 20, 1942, she married Max E. Platt in Fort Wayne. Together they were owner/operators of Platt Pharmacy in Fort Wayne for many years.
Evelyn was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne for over 60 years.
She has been a Whitley County resident since 1994. Evelyn enjoyed bowling, golf, and playing bridge, cribbage, and euchre.
Survivors include her daughter: Cynthia Hart, Columbia City; son: James (Karen) Platt, Albion; grandchildren: Joe Platt; and Dan (Cari) Hart, both of Columbia City; Mitchell (Jamie) Platt, South Whitley; Lori Hart, Fort Wayne; and Tina Smith, Columbia City; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Max E. Platt; daughter: Lisa Warrick; sister: Vicki Fryback; and brothers: Harold; Richard; Norbert; Bill; Edward; and Kenneth Hegerfeld.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, Columbia City.
Funeral services for Evelyn will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 9, at the funeral home with calling one hour prior. Burial will follow in Markle Cemetery, Markle.
Memorial contributions in memory of Evelyn may be made to Trinity English Lutheran Church or Cancer Research Institute.
