Elisabeth ‘Liz’ Burns
Elisabeth “Liz” Burns, Warsaw, passed away at 11:05 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016, at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester, at the age of 89.
She was born on April 3, 1927 in Sindelfingen, Germany to Pauline (Ziegler) and Wilhelm Bauer. Liz met her husband Robert Burns in Germany and they were married on April 11, 1953 in Boeblingen, Germany. They shared 52 years of marriage together before he passed away on Feb. 17, 2005.
Liz moved to Warsaw with her Robert in 1953, and has been a resident of Kosciusko County, for the past 63 years where she was a longtime member of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She worked for many years at Madison Elementary School as a lunch room aid and as a teachers aid. Liz enjoyed traveling, knitting and going for daily morning walks through town with her friend Martha Hankins but most of all she enjoyed her family and grandchildren.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons: Jerry (wife Joellen) Burns, Warsaw; David (wife Annette) Burns, Maineville, Ohio; Thomas Burns, San Francisco, Calif.; four grandchildren: Jacquelyn (husband Josh) Huxford, Rosedale; Jared (wife Megan) Burns, Warsaw; Ian (wife Sarah) Burns, Watertown, N.Y.; Emily Burns, Maineville, Ohio; and six great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Pastor Dr. Erik Ohman will be officiating.
There will be time for visitation an hour prior to the service from 10–11 a.m. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Salvation Army, 501 Arthur Street, Warsaw, IN 46580 and would be appreciated by the family.
