WARSAW — The Oakwood Cemetery board meeting on Thursday, June 2, was short and to the point.
The meeting started with President of the cemetery board, Dave Baumgartner, making sure Oakwood Cemetery Sexton Hal Heagy knows he’s appreciated for all he does in the cemetery, “I want to take a moment just to say I, being the president, drove through on Memorial Day … and the place looked fantastic.” Baumgartner looked to the press that attended the meeting and said to them, “And I want to make sure you write this in the paper, that Hal and his crew make this place gorgeous; he deserves some recognition for that.” He continuted turning to Heagy, “You and your staff [deserve recgonition].”
Heagy stated he hadn’t finished drawing the sketch for the columbarium in number two Cremation Garden, but has plans to have it finished this month and then he and City Engineer James Emans will start the bid process.
In other business:
- Heagy told the board the 2017 budget is in progress and will be ready by next week.
- The cemetery bought a new dump truck.
The next meeting will be 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4.
