Dotson’s Debut A Winning One For Bandits
ROSEMONT, ILL. – It didn’t take Kelsey Dotson long to have an impact on her newest softball team.
Dotson, a former star at WCHS and Indiana University, made her professional debut Thursday night for the Chicago Bandits.
Dotson went 1-2 at the plate while playing catcher for the Bandits in a 6-4 win over the Scrap Yard Dawgs in the season opener at The Ballpark at Rosemont.
Dotson, who was signed by the Bandits earlier this week after attending a team tryout, also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch in the contest. Dotson, a 2012 WCHS graduate and Silver Lake native, was an All-State player for the Tigers and had a huge junior season at IU before suffering a broken hand her senior year and missing about a third of the season.
Danielle Zymkowitz had two hits and drove in four runs for the Bandits, who won the Cowles Cup in the National Pro Fastpitch League last season.
Winning pitcher Michelle Gascoigne went the distance in the circle for the win, allowing 10 hits while striking out five and walking six.
The Bandits will host the Scrap Yard Dawgs for games again Friday and Saturday nights.
