Richard ‘Dick’ Prescott
Richard “Dick” Prescott, 84, Leesburg, passed away on May 30, 2016. He was born on June 8, 1931 in Union City, to Henry and Helen (Potter) Prescott.
On Dec. 18, 1954 he married Mary Hicks who survives. He was a 1949 graduate of Madison Township High School. He was a 1951 graduate of International Business College, a 1955 graduate of Ball State University and a Lieutenant in the Air Force. He was an airline pilot for American Airlines for 25 years. He was an instructor for the International Business College for five years, and served in the National Guard as a Major.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Prescott, Leesburg; one son: Michael (Joanna) Prescott, Syracuse; four daughters: Sandra Screeton, Fort Wayne; Vickie (Bill) Zimmer, Charlotte, N.C.; Lisa Glon, Syracuse; and Lori Prescott, Syracuse. Five grandchildren: Lauren (Michael) Honeycutt; Haley Zimmer; Ashley (Michael) Martin; Sadie and Greyston Grumme. Four great grandchildren; two brothers: Tom (Ellen) Prescott, Troy, Ohio; Harry (Diane) Prescott, Union City; two sisters: Judy (Dick) Keltner, Odessa, Fla.; and Becky (Don) Owens, Easley, S.C.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 2, from 4-8 p.m. at the Eastlund Funeral Home. Services will be Friday, June 3 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Pleasant Hill cemetery in Union City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Food Pantries of North Webster and Syracuse.
