Reverend Richard Campbell Sr.
Reverend Richard Campbell Sr., 69, Claypool, passed away at 4:25 am Tuesday, May 31, 2016, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
On Sept. 5, 1946, he was born in Warsaw to Arthur and Carrie Ruth (Patton) Campbell. He was united in marriage to Brenda S. Oaks on Sept. 2, 1977 in Warsaw, who preceded him in death on Nov. 27, 2014.
A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Richard served our country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1965–1968. He was Pastor of New Vision Church Ministries that he and his wife founded due to their love of Jesus and wanting people to know him as their Lord and Savior. Richard also was an Evangelist, traveling all over the United States.
Richard worked for R.R. Donnelley and Sons, retiring in 1991 and then worked in security for Zimmer Inc., retiring in 2015. He was a member of the American Legion Post #258, Pierceton and the VA.
He is survived by four children: Ricky (and spouse Tracy) Campbell Jr., Warsaw; Jamie Barhydt, Warsaw; Dawn (and spouse Cortney) Judd, Columbia City; Elijah Campbell, Goshen; five grandchildren: Jayla Barhydt, Jeffrey Barhydt, Kyle Campbell, Kane Campbell and Bayleigh Campbell. Richard is also survived by three brothers: Arthur Campbell Jr., Warsaw; Bob Campbell, Warsaw; Roy Campbell, Oregon; and one sister: Betty Winchester, Warsaw.
He is also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Hubert Campbell, Lloyd Campbell, Don Campbell, John Campbell; and one sister: Beulah Foreman.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor James Barber officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Visitation hours will be from 4–8 p.m. Thursday, June 2 in the funeral chapel.
