Betty L. Roberts, 93, a former Cleveland Township, Whitley County resident, died at 5:45 a.m. Monday, May 31, 2016, at Miller’s at Oak Pointe where she had been a resident since Aug. 2013.
She was born Jan. 2, 1923, in Cleveland Township a daughter of John and Maude (Poland) Tschantz. Her formative years were spent in Collamer. She graduated from South Whitley High School.
On Nov. 4, 1944, she was united in marriage to Lawrence A. Roberts.
A homemaker, she attended Collamer Christian Church.
Surviving relatives include her husband of over 71 years: Lawrence; two children: Wayne Roberts; and Julia (Dan) Rowland, all of South Whitley; two daughters-in-law: Judy Roberts Egolf, Columbia City; and Sue Roberts, North Manchester; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Jeannie Dailey, Huntington. She was preceded in death by two sons: Randall Roberts; and Kenton Roberts; a daughter-in-law: Kathy Roberts; four sisters: Peggy Schaffer; Dorothy Watson; Ruth Walter; and Catherine Norris; and two brothers: Dale Tschantz; and Donald Tschantz.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. The burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 3, at the funeral home.
