Satellites Next Up For Triton
LACROSSE – The rematch is now set. For the third year in a row, Triton and South Central (Union Mills) are on a collision course in the Class 1-A softball regional.
South Central won the LaCrosse Sectional Thursday night by an 11-1 count against Argos, filling in the other half of the regional matchup. South Central will host Triton at 5:30 p.m. (EST) Tuesday with a ticket to the Frontier Semi-state on June 4. The Satellites knocked out Triton in last year’s regional, Triton with honors in 2014 before Josie Wood and North Miami slammed Triton in the semi-state.
South Central (20-5) posted a three-spot in the third against Argos (7-15), tacked on one more in the fourth then plated the clinching seven runs in the fifth to put away Argos.
Riley Popplewell tripled, drove in two and scored twice while Mikayla Eaton and Morgan Wright each had a double, four hits combined and scored three runs between them. Breana Brewer added a hit and two RBIs for the Satellites.
Savanah Becker was dealing for South Central, allowing just one earned run on four Dragons hits. Lexi VanderWeele had two of those hits and the RBI for Argos.
