Whitko Baseball: Wildcats Fall In Sectional
WABASH – The Whitko baseball team saw its season come to an end in the opening round of sectional play Wednesday night.
The Wildcats ended up on the short end of an 11-4 final to Cass in first night action of the Class 2-A Wabash Sectional.
Cass had 11 hits and took advantage of five errors by the Wildcats in the win. The winners scored in six of the seven innings, including three runs in the second frame.
Alex Bechtold smacked a pair of triples and drove in three runs to lead Whitko.
Tanner Gaff was 2-3 with a double and an RBI for the Wildcats. Gaff also took the pitching loss as he allowed four earned runs in three innings of work. He walked five and struck out none.
Cass advances to play Manchester in a semifinal game Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Manchester defeated Rochester 13-4 in the other contest Wednesday night. Oak Hill will face Wabash in the second semifinal game on Saturday. The championship game is scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m.
Whitko finishes its season with a 22-7 mark.
