Bonita A. Arnold
Bonita “Bonnie” A. Arnold, 81, of rural Columbia City, died at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City where she was admitted on Saturday, May 21.
She was born March 9, 1935 in Columbia City, a daughter of the late Eugene and Eva (Plummer) Mullendore. She grew up in Columbia City and graduated from Columbia City High School.
On July 30, 1955 she was united in marriage to Forrest M. Arnold. The couple has always made their home in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County.
She was employed for approximately 19 years with the Whitley County Memorial Hospital in the billing department, retiring in 1994.
She was a former 4H leader of the Pony Club. A seasoned rider, she enjoyed trail riding with her horse. An accomplished gardener, she grew both flowers and vegetables. She loved to read and often would be engrossed in paperbacks that she purchased at garage sales.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Forrest; a daughter: Karen (Ron) Stump, Columbia City; a son: Steve Arnold, Columbia City; one grandchild; two great grandchildren; and a sister: Rita (Steve) Hively, Columbia City.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in the Thorn Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 27 at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Whitley County 4H Horse and Pony Club or the Humane Society of Whitley County.
