Syracuse-Wawasee Trails Committee Looking Into Insurance
SYRACUSE — At its Tuesday, May 24 meeting, the Syracuse-Wawasee Park Foundation accepted a motion to find bids and information for liability insurance to cover the eight plus miles of Syracuse-Wawasee trails.
A consensus was met that a good solution would be for the trails to be added to the liability policy of various government agencies such as the town and the county, but that a full investigation of the matter needed to be done. Approval was given to begin gathering bids for coverage.
Chad Jonsson, park superintendent, reported that tree removal, which had been scheduled previously at a park foundation meeting had been finished. He also noted that in the Harold Schrock Athletic Complex new fence caps were added to the fields that didn’t have them, with one field left to complete.
Upcoming projects still in the works are the both the Eli Lilly Trail and Conklin Bay Boardwalk.
The Syracuse Wawasee Park Foundation has several board member positions open, including chairman. If there are any members of the public who would be willing to attend seven meetings a year to give input on park projects and help make the decisions about the parks, they are invited to contact Chad Jonsson at (574) 457-3440.
