Ryan Gingerich Named New BCHS Hoops Coach
WATERFORD MILLS – Goshen native Ryan Gingerich has been named varsity boys basketball coach at Bethany Christian High School.
In making the announcement, Bethany athletic director Gary Chupp says, “Ryan has a true passion for working with young people, and I have no doubt that he will provide stability and a great foundation for our basketball program in the years to come.”
Gingerich has served as a JV and varsity assistant coach at Jimtown and Elkhart Central High Schools since 2001, working much of that time under Randy DeShone. Gingerich played high school basketball at Goshen (1990-93) and was a member of the 1992 sectional championship team. He will continue to teach at Jimtown High School, where he is the social studies department chair.
Gingerich says, “I would like to thank Bethany Christian High School for the opportunity to be their varsity boys basketball coach. I have had the opportunity to work and play under some great coaches who have helped prepare me for this job; coach (Mike) Sorrell at Goshen, coach (Jason) Ridge at Northridge, and coach (Randy) DeShone at Jimtown and Elkhart Central.
“My family and I are so excited to be a part of the Bethany family. We can’t wait to start working with the players and building relationships. We will be a program that plays great defense, plays unselfish, and develops all-around basketball players and people.”
