Whitko Baseball: Wildcats Cruise By County Rivals
SOUTH WHITLEY — The Whitko baseball team scored a nice win Monday evening.
The Wildcats knocked off county rival Churubusco 14-6 to conclude regular season play. Churubusco, a team that has been in the top 10 of class 3-A much of the season, had just nine hits to Whtiko’s 15.
Hunter Sroufe earned the win for Whitko in relief and he pitched two and two-thirds innings and struck out two batters.
Whitko scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth the get such a large margin of victory.
Sroufe, Alex Bechtold and Zach Hewitt were all 3-4 at the plate for the Wildcats.
Whitko (22-6) will begin its journey for the program’s first sectional title as it plays Lewis-Cass at Wabash at 5 p.m. Wednesday night.
