Lloyd Richard Applegate, Warsaw, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2016, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center of Warsaw at the age of 79.
He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. He worked for Sun Metal Products in Warsaw as a senior engineer, retiring after working there for over 40 years.
Lloyd was born on Aug. 3, 1936, in Canton, S.D. to Samuel Lloyd Applegate and Loraine (Wilcox) Applegate Penn. On June 16, 1963, he was married to Evelyn Marie Applegate, she passed away on April 1, 2014.
He also leaves behind his son: Richard (Veronica) Applegate, Warsaw; daughter: Ilah Applegate, Warsaw; two grandchildren: Josh Applegate (Jessie Reeder), Fort Wayne; Zach (Emily) Applegate, S.C.; five great-grandchildren: Eva; Dylan; Dawson; Mallory; and Jonah; and one step-great-granddaughter: Celeste. Also surviving are two sisters: Jeanette (Gerald) Fitzgerald, McDonough, Ga.; Lois ‘Chick’ (Phil) Antonelli; one brother: Jerry ‘Gus’ (Amy) Applegate, Texas; sister-in-law: Vera Drudge, Pierceton; brother-in-law: Rex (Alma Gay) Drudge, Mentone; and his sister-in-law: Martha Klinger, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and his son: Dennis Appledate in 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Memorial donations may be directed to Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw, or to Heart to Heart Hospice, Mishawaka, and would be appreciated by the family.
