Board Of Realtors Announces 2016 Scholarship Winners
WARSAW — The Kosciusko Board of Realtors announced its 2016 scholarship winners. From 1993 to date, KBOR has awarded $69,000 in scholarships.
The KBOR scholarship is specifically designed to encourage and support bright and motivated students in Kosciusko County. In helping pay for their educational expenses, KBOR hopes to help these students live their dreams and achieve all their goals.
Realtor members help build a better community through programs such as this in hopes that these students make significant contributions in their chosen field. KBOR received more than applications from students throughout Kosciusko County, who were chosen by members of KBOR’s community service/scholarship committee.
The following students are recipeints:
Analiese Helms is the daughter of Rhonda and Fredrick Helms. She attends Warsaw Community High School and has been accepted to Taylor University’s College of Music Education. With her commitment to music, Helms has played the violin with the Fort Wayne Youth Symphony, the Masterworks Festival and Symphony of the Lakes. She has also brought her musical talents to local nursing homes to share the joy of music to those residents.
In addition to music, Helms had participated in the Kosciusko County 4-H program for 10 years. She has shown llamas at the local and state fair levels. She has also been a mentor to younger 4-H members. Helms shared her vision for the future with the selection committee: “I long to engage future generations in the field of music, being a music teacher will give me the opportunities to bring the beauty of music to a multitude of people.”
Gianna Hochstetler is from Leesburg and is the daughter of Glenn and Geraldine Hochstetler. She has been home-schooled in addition to recent classes through Grace College high school student program.
Hochstetler has been accepted by Bethel College, Mishawaka, in intercultural studies. Her interest in intercultural studies where furthered with a three-month mission to an orphanage in Bolivia, Casa de Amor. Per Hochstetler, “This experience fueled my desire for further education in intercultural studies. I would like to learn how to more effectively communicate cross culturally. My dream is to be working cross-culturally with children in five years.”
Kaci Whitehead is a past recipient of a KBOR scholarship. Next year, she will be a senior at IPFW, majoring in graphic design. In 2015, Kaci received an award from the American Advertising Foundation for excellence in her field of graphic design and was named to the dean’s list in 2016. In her application, Whitehead shared, “For your investment in my college education, I promise to pay back high dividends. These dividends include a future filled with community service, family, leadership, and God.” Whitehtead is the daughter of James and Sally Whitehead, Syracuse.
