Malinda E. Hochstetler, 77, Bremen, passed away suddenly from natural causes at 5:53 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2016, at South Bend Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 10, 1938, in Elkhart County to Emmon and Salina (Hochstetler) Schmucker.
She was a lifetime area resident and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. She was the former owner of Rentown Store with her husband, Leroy, and was also a homemaker. Malinda married Leroy on June 18, 1957, in Elkhart County.
He survives, along with children: Leroy Jr. (Janice) Hochstetler of Nappanee; Rebecca (Samuel) Chupp of Nappanee; Esther (John) Schwartz of Bremen; Linda Mae (Joe) Riegsecker of Nappanee; Naomi Fern (Jacob) Troyer of Bremen; Melvin Ray (Wanita) Hochstetler of Bremen; Nathan Allen (Ada Bernice) Hochstetler of Bourbon; Rosa Lynn Hochstetler of Bremen; Dennis Wayne (Leah Fern) Hochstetler of Bremen; Mark Eugene (Lorene) Hochstetler of Nappanee; and Benjamin (Carolyn) Hochstetler, of Bremen; 62 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; brother Levi (Millie) Schmucker of Goshen; sisters: Edna Mae Stoltzfus of Holtwood, Pa.; and Mahala (John) Troyer of Nappanee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons: Lyle Hochstetler and Jeremy Schwartz; a great-grandson: Matthew Gingerich; brothers: Harvey, Monroe, Marvin, and Freeman Schmucker; and sisters: Mary Schmucker; and twin sisters Jemima and Salina Yoder.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, and all day Thursday, May 19, at Jacob Troyer’s Residence (Rentown Road). The funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 20, at Darrel Yoder’s Residence (Rentown Road). The Home Ministers will officiate. Burial will follow at Weldy Cemetery.
