Lee Anne Stewart Dance Teams Participate in Variety Competition
FORT WAYNE – On Saturday, April 23 the Fusion Dance Team and Fly Dance Crew from Lee Anne Stewart competed in the Variety Competition on the IPFW campus in the Rhinehart Music Center. The team brought a total of twenty pieces to the competition. Fifteen of the dances received the highest ranking, platinum. The other five dances received high gold awards.
In the overall high point totals for the competition nine of the dances received a first place in their category, four received a second place, and three received third places. As special recognition the team received multiple judges’ choice awards. “Duel of the Fates” was recognized for costuming, “King of New York” was given the award for showmanship, “Big Doll House” was noted for precision, and “Stole the Show” was awarded special acknowledgment for technique.
The highest point total of the day, and a one hundred dollar check, was given to “Stole the Show” danced by Kassidy Hockert, Kiana Piercy, and Brianne Stewart.
All of the dancers at the Lee Anne Stewart Dance School are busy preparing for the June production as a culmination of their year of dance. This year’s theme for the show is And The Award Goes To… The shows take place at the Warsaw Community High School’s Performing Arts Center on June 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19.
