Glenn F. Hardesty
Glenn F. Hardesty, 88, Grovertown, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.
Glenn was born on Oct. 9, 1927, in Spencerville, to Delmer and Goldie (Jones) Hardesty. On Aug. 30, 1952, Glenn took the former Ilene A. Stiles to be his bride in a ceremony in Starke County. Ilene preceded him in passing on Feb. 7, 2013. Glenn supported his family by working at the fertilizer plant and roofing. He was a faithful member of the New Life Pentecostal Church in Hamlet.
Glenn is survived by his daughter: Diane Johnson, Grovertown; his two sons: Robert (Brenda) Jacobs, Grovertown; Glenn (Deb) Hardesty Jr., Plymouth; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Marjorie Runkle, Fla.; Joan Winrotte, Plymouth. Glenn is preceded in passing by his parents; wife: Ilene; daughter: Jaqueline Smolen; baby sister: Geraldine; and his five brothers: Gilbert; Jr.; Robert; Wayne; and John.
The Van Gilder Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Hardesty family. Funeral services for Glenn will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 19, with the Rev. Erve Bradley at Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth. Burial will be in the Tyner Cemetery. A time of visiting with the Hardesty family will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, in the Van Gilder Funeral Home.
