Cruise In A Success Despite The Cold
WARSAW — The day may have been windy and quite chilly, but that didn’t keep the car enthusiasts away from the Courthouse Square in downtown Warsaw yesterday, May 15, for the 7th annual City of the Lakes Cruise In.
The event began at noon and lasted until 4:30 p.m. when awards were given out. The Lakes Area Community Band played during the entire event entertaining the attendees, who wandered the square looking at cars, listened to the band or hit the concession stands that were scattered about.
Some people have been coming to this event since it started. John Coffey, of Lakeside Chevy, said he’s been participating from the first year because he supports Warsaw and the events in the town because, “It’s where I live, where I work.”
Others keep coming back for the event because they love the cars and the people. Two members of the Fort Wayne Corvette Club said the reason they love cars and events like these are “Pride of ownership and the fun of driving,” said Phil Biehl. While Lester Berry stated, “It’s pride and camaraderie; come for the cars, stay for the people.”
The Cruise In was presented by the Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club and the proceeds from the event will benefit the youth of Kosciusko County.
