Judy May Sandstrom
Former Rochester resident, Judy May Sandstrom, 77, of Fishers, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016, at Community North of Indianapolis.
On February 21, 1939, Judy was born in Red Wing, Minn. She was the cherished daughter of Stanley and Grace Vieths Sandstrom.
Judy and Richard Morley Stewart were married on February 20, 1960, in Plymouth. Together they shared many years of life’s adventures making memories. Their union produced two daughters and a son. Two more generations have been added to the family tree with nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In the early years when the Stewart family called Red Wing, Minn. home, they enjoyed life in the country. On their hobby farm was a variety of animals including Quarter horses and Arabians. Judy especially enjoyed her Quarter horses and was a member of area saddle clubs and embraced nature with her children on trail rides. An accomplished seamstress, Judy taught her daughters to sew. They enjoyed time together engaging in monthly sew-alongs.
Left to cherish Judy’s memory are two daughters: Dawn Lindstrom of Indianapolis; Jill (Rich) Weese of Galveston; a son: Rick (Marti) Stewart of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren: Erik Lindstrom, Nicole Lindstrom, Kyle Lindstrom, Kimberly Lindstrom, Tyler (Shawna) Walley, Carter (Samantha) Walley, Shiloh Stewart, Eli Stewart, Corinna Stewart; five great grandchildren; and her treasured canine companion Shelly, her jet black Scottish Terrier.
Preceding Judy in death are her parents, husband Richard on Aug. 26, 2003, son-in-law, John Lindstrom on Jan. 27, 2014, and a trio of Scottish Terriers: Henry “Hank,” Bailey and Robbie, who have passed across Rainbow Bridge.
Judy’s celebration of life will be announced late Sunday afternoon.
