John R. Nichols
John R. Nichols, 76, of rural Claypool, and of Sun City, Ariz. passed on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at the Arrowhead Hospital of Glendale, Ariz.
He was born on Oct. 29, 1939, in Wabash County, to Ralph and G. Eunice (Metzger) Nichols. He was married on June 14, 1959, in Silver Lake, to Dixie Polk, she survives. John was a Dairy Farmer and worked for ten years at R.R. Donnelley and Sons of Warsaw, retiring in 1998. John was a 1958 graduate of Claypool High School. He was a member of the Silver Creek Church of God. John and his wife in later years lived in Reno, Nev. and Sun City, Ariz.
John is survived by his wife: Dixie Nichols, Claypool; daughter: Penny (David) Miller, Warsaw; son: Robert (Tami Ennis) Nichols, Smyrna, Ga.; two grandchildren: JD Miller; Aly Miller; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren: Shannan (Chris) Deneve; Aaron Miller; sister: Cynthia (Ron) Hoppas, San Marcos, Calif.; stepbrothers: Richard (Ruth) Jamison, Aurora, Ill.; and Byron Jamison, Boulder City, Nev. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ralph and Eunice Nichols.
Visitation will be from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Silver Creek Church of God, before the 11:30 a.m. service on Saturday, officiated by Pastor Tom Craig. Burial will be at Silver Creek Cemetery, Silver Lake. Arrangements are entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
