Charles ‘Red’ Richard Hagenbush
Charles “Red” Richard Hagenbush, 87, Argos, died at 1:55 a.m., May 11, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, following a short illness.
Red was born on June 26, 1928 in Argos, to Ivo I. Hagenbush and Mable L. (Kindig) Hagenbush and had lived all of his life in the Argos community.
On Feb. 15, 1948 in Plymouth, he married Betty June Preslar and together they shared 67 years before she preceded him on Feb. 13, 2015.
Red worked for Moriaty Buildings and Wicks Lumber in Argos, for 30 years; he then worked for Bomarko in Plymouth, retiring in 1990.
Red was a graduate of Argos High School with the class of 1947. He was an avid baseball fan and played fast pitch and slow pitch baseball for many years; he also was a league Bowler for over 30 years.
He is survived by his daughter: Gayle Kintigh of Elkhart; sons: Charles K. Hagenbush of Argos; and Kent I. Hagenbush and wife Geralyn Of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister: Evelyn L. Tracy of Argos; brother: Donald Hagenbush of Peru.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Robert Hagenbush, Ivo (Doug) Hagenbush, and Wilber Hagenbush
Friends may visit with the family 2 p.m.–6 p.m. Sunday, May 15, from at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, with Rev. Robert E. Rice Jr. of the Walnut Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow the graveside service on Monday, May 16.
